Three Indian Americans, an Indian-origin Mexican scientist win Padma Bhushan

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google's Sundar Pichai and actor and culinary writer Madhur Jaffrey are three Indian Americans to be conferred the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, which was also awarded posthumously to India-born Mexican scientist Sanjaya Rajaram. Four foreigners and two Indian-origin persons were conferred the Padma Shri. Maria Christopher Byrski, Sanskrit scholar and former Polish ambassador to India, was conferred the Padma Shri. Prokar Dasgupta, an Indian surgeon and academic who is professor of surgery at the surgical academy at King's Health Partners, London, was named for the Padma Shri. Jaipur-born Ryuko Hira, owner of HMI Hotel Group in Japan, which runs a chain of hotels and resorts, was conferred the Padma Shri. Rutger Kortenhorst, Head of Sanskrit at John Scottus Senior School, Ireland, was named for the Padma Shri. Chirapat Prapandavidya, Sanskrit scholar from Thailand, was conferred the Padma Shri. PM Modi had mentioned him in his Mann ki Baat on August 29. Tatiana Lvovna Shaumyan of Russia was awarded the Padma Shri for her work on India. Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu tweeted his congratulations on the three Indian Americans receiving the Padma Bhushan. ”Heartiest congratulations to @madhurjaffrey @satyanadella and @sundarpichai on being conferred the Padma Bhushan in recognition of distinguished service in their respective fields.” The Indian Embassy US in a tweet said: “Congratulations to @madhurjaffrey @satyanadella and @sundarpichai for being conferred the Padma Bhushan for their distinguished contribution in culinary and technology sectors.” The Indian Embassy in Mexico in a tweet conveyed its congratulations on Sanjaya Rajaram being conferred the Padma Bhushan posthumously. “Congratulations to late Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram–an eminent agricultural scientist of Indian origin for having been honored with #PadmaBhushan. His remarkable contributions in wheat breeding will continue to provide food security to the world! Proud of PIO's of India on the global map.” Indian Ambassador in Russia, Pavan Kapoor, in a tweet congratulated Tatiana Shaumyan for being conferred the Padma Shri. “Warm congratulations Prof Tatiana Shaumyan, Institute of Oriental Studies (Russian Academy of Sciences) on being conferred the prestigious award Padma Shri by Govt of India for your contribution to Literature & Education & deepening of India-Russia friendship #padmaawards” The Indian embassy in Moscow tweeted ”We cordially congratulate Tatyana Lvovna Shaumyan, Professor of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, on the award by the Government of India of the prestigious Padma Shri award for her contribution to the development of literature, education and the deepening of Indian-Russian friendship.” The Indian Embassy in Warsaw tweeted its congratulations to Maria Christopher Byrski, Sanskrit scholar and former Polish ambassador to India, for being conferred the Padma Shri. “Heartiest congratulations to Amb.
